My Mouth is a Volcano

We hope you had another great week! For those of you who are coming back to school this week for in-person learning, welcome back! This week's lesson is for 3rd-5th grade and focuses on being an active listener and doing your best to not interrupt. Please listen to the story below to see how Louis has a hard time with interrupting and what he does to work on this and be a better listener. You may find that since we are doing a lot of virtual learning, it is easier and more tempting to interrupt in the Zoom meetings. This lesson is a good reminder of how it is so important to be the best listener you can be, so you don't miss out on any learning, are being polite, are showing your friends, family, and teachers that you care about what they are saying, and sometimes also to help keep you safe (for example, crossing the street, looking out for a ball in a sport you play, etc.) Try practicing all those listening skills (eyes watching, ears listening, voice quiet, and body still) while you listen to the story. 

¡Esperamos que haya tenido otra gran semana! Para aquellos de ustedes que regresan a la escuela esta semana para aprender en persona, ¡Bienvenidos! La lección de esta semana es para los grados tercero a quinto y se enfoca en las destrezas para escuchar mejor y hacer todo lo posible para no interrumpir. Por favor escuche el cuento para ver cómo Louis tiene dificultades para interrumpir y qué hace para trabajar en esto y como escuchar mejor. Puede encontrar que, dado que estamos haciendo mucho aprendizaje virtual, es más fácil y más tentador interrumpir las reuniones de Zoom. Esta lección es un buen recordatorio de lo importante lo que es las destrezas de escuchar, para que no se pierda ningún aprendizaje, sea cortés, muestre a sus amigos, familiares y maestros que se preocupa por lo que están diciendo, y a veces también para ayudarlo a mantenerse a salvo (por ejemplo, cruzar la calle, buscar una pelota en un deporte que practica, etc.) Intente practicar todas esas habilidades de escuchar (ojos mirando, oídos escuchando, boca callada, y cuerpo quieto) mientras escuchas el cuento.
